That Saville Row for $58 seems a good deal. But lets compare it to a $500 or $600 brush. Do you think they are 10 times better than your brush?? If I had an extra $500 beans I would have bought that TI - Damascus that has been mentioned on the other site. Wouldn't you???:hmmm:Quote:

Keith, I would fall under the obsessed category I suppose, or rather I DID fall under it. There was, however, a method to my madness. I now have an arsenal of four brushes, two are real hot rods, and with that four I have every possible aspect and level of quality covered. If I take good care of them, and I will - believe me- I am hoping to never buy another brush again. Not for myself at least. My boys, I might buy them their first soon. I had a bristle first, then bought a boar, then bought a badger, then bought a decent badger, and so forth. As my interest in shaving, and shaving brushes, intensified, I could see my own OCD writing on the wall. I knew, just KNEW, I'd eventually end up with a Plisson High Mountain White some day, and before finally getting there I'd have bought and gotten rid of countless brushes along the way. I just cut the chase, and dropped some major coin. Now there's nowhere else to go with brushes, and I am somewhat relieved. I can attest to the differences at this level, and they are phenominal. To ME they are. I can browse the brush forums with a smile on my face, and there is no discussion there to ignite the desire to buy another brush. True, when it boils down to it, you are just smearing soap suds on your face. Then again when you shave, you are just cutting off whiskers. I think the very fact that we discuss shaving, it's various tools, and the methods of using and maintaining said tools so passionately, shows that shaving is much more than just whisker removal. There i go off on another tangent... Anyway, maybe I have lost it, who knows. I'm happy, though, and it's a hobby that my wife can deal with. Well, for one thing, her husband's Don Johnson shadow disappeared LONG ago never to return, and according to her that's a good thing. .....Jeff

Did you actually buy the Plisson High Mountain White? As for obsession, don't get me wrong, I own, at the moment, five scents of shaving cream, two types of pre-shave oil, three kinds of aftershave... And I think that's only the very tip of the iceberg.
Around now, people will start commenting on how my little collection isn't all the much... But a month ago, I had a brush, one tub of shaving cream, and no oil or straight razors. At this level of growth, I'll need a new room for my shaving stuff in a year. :)

Keith, yes I did. 24MM knot, horn handle. It's is truly a thing of beauty, (if you're into that kind of thing, HAHA!) It's a pleasure to use, and there really is a difference. Justified?.....in my mind it was. A matter of opinion I suppose, but price/quality/bang for the buck can and will always be debated. I knew I'd get it eventually, so as I see it, I saved time AND money! "Obsessive" is not an insult to me :-) Jeff

This is something like the quest for the holy grail. I feel like what I really need to do is climb a Himalayan mountain to find an old man who installs the pure white badger hairs one by one with a tweezer while an entire monastary of monks chant blessings.
But I agree about saving money by going right for the top of the line, if that's what you know you want. :)
