Would olive oil work as good as any other in preserving a razor from rust? What about vegetable oil?
Olive or vegetable oil should not be used on razors. You can use mineral oil, some people use gun oil or 3 in 1 oil. The olive and the vegetable oil can leave a very sticky residue behind if it is left to sit on the razors.
for long term storage definitely not.
I don;t know what kind of anti-corrosion properties it has, but organic oils do spoil and will turn rancid.
I consume the olive oil (two shots daily) :beer2: My cutting board and razor get food-grade mineral oil from Bed, Bath & Beyond (over by the cutting boards).
Olive oil leaves a residue and even worse can go rancid...this isn't what you want on your blades.
and mineral oil it is! I just ran to Wal Mart and for $1.82 got 16oz of Mineral Oil. If only I could get skinfood that cheap, lol
How about using Vasaline?
