TI Razors - Sheffield Silver Steel

I was wondering if the steel used in the TI Sheffield Silver
razors is superior to the steel in the Evide Sonnant razors?

I know that the scales on the Sheffield razors account for
some of the price difference but waht about steel quality.

I was wondering about that, too... IMO, the term Sheffield Silver Steel is just marketing gimmick, and all blades from TI are made with the same steel and temper. But, since they have to diferenciate the blades price-wise, only way is to shut up about blade properties on the Sonnate, and slap some plastic scales on it...

I am pretty sure I read in an earlier post that there is actually some amount of silver in the silver steel razors. I dont know if it is true, or what type of benefit a soft metal like silver would have in the blade of a razor...

I bet there's no noticible difference between the two at all.

I asked the folks at classicshaving about silver steel a while back and they said that the steel has a very small amount of silver in it. This was done to make it polish up brighter. They also said that there is no difference in hardness or honing or shaving.

Then the TI ES it is. While the scales on the sheffield razor
do look a whole lot better, I would rather put the difference
in price toward something else, say a paddle strop from
Tony or perhaps a hone and a razor to actually learn
honing on. While I understand that honing isn't easy,
I suppose it can't be that hard either. Hell for that
matter after reading about straight razor shaving on
Chris Moss's book ( great book) and the write up
on classicshavings page it made learning to use a
straight sound like a many months affair. But for me
this has been easy and I don't know why. As far as stropping
goes, well I will admit that my strop from Tony does have a few
nicks on either end, but nothing serious. I have definately improved
and can now strop with comfort.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the Sheffield steel blades come from England whereas the other steel is forged there in France by the folks at TI.
