London Storefronts: Wide Selection of Razors?

I did searches on this forum and found plenty of information on London shopping but was wondering whether any of the shops mentioned -- or, indeed, ones not mentioned -- carry a wide selection of razors.

Someone mentioned Trumper carries a wide selection of Dovo razors but I just wanted to see what else, if anything, is out there.

I also wanted to get a feel for the snootiness factor: I'm very familiar with shopping in uppity London storefronts whilst wearing hiking shoes (live with it, waistcoated staffers, I'm not spending an entire Saturday walking around London in brogues) but how do they feel about customers fondling the razors and sniffing the soaps?

I was last there for a job interview and my future employer had kindly provided an apartment on Jermyn Street, so I spent some time exploring the shops. Wearing a waistcoat myself, I cannot comment on the snootiness factor (at least no-one mentioned the war...), but I did not see a wide variety of razors, either. However, I was allowed to take a close look at their products, and it was fun.

It does tend to be DOVO razors that are available, although I have seen a couple of other minor name brands as well.

The shops are fine with you sampling their products! :) When you go in, most will have stuff on the shelves for you to pick up and sniff, and tester bottles of colgne, and they're happy to show you anything thats in a cabinet if you ask.

Great place for a straight shave, near Picadilly Circus. Probably receive some excellent shopping advice as well as a shave. I do not recall much "snooty" on my visits to the UK. More a question of good manners is important and some natural reluctance on the part of many London business men because of too many confrontations with the "ugly American" image which hurts us all. You will find a kind reception or not based on your actions. I hope you have a great trip! :beer1:

I might be wrong, but do I detect some animosity or condescension towards the people working in these shops?
I'm not sure what is wrong with brogues or any other kind of shoe. The only shoes that really say something about the wearer are those that need a good clean (unless you work in a dirty environment).
In terms of judging by appearance, often it's all you have to go on until they speak to you.
I tend not to put myself out for those who forget common courtesy such as please and thank-you, no matter how they dress.

It can be very easy to misunderstand one another when on an online forum.

I don't know what you're used to, but here it's very good natured. You may get teased a bit, but that's usually as far as it goes. There's no snobbery.

It would be a shame if you took offence, particularly so soon after joining us.

No sweat, I can take some teasing.

But I'm good about giving it back, too.
