I won a razor on ebay today for $10. I got an invoice for $15.25. This guy is charging $5.25 flat rate for handling and shipping. The last razor I got was only $4 for shipping.
I know I should have checked with him about shipping charges.I am contemplating leaving feedback stating that anyone interested in his items should check with the seller about shipping charges before bidding.
What do you think?
While it is always a good idea to check s&h before bidding, $5.25 is not an outrageous sum by any stretch of the imagination. Is it more than the actual likely cost for sending the item? Yes. On the other hand, it is not unusual for sellers to charge a flat fee of $7 to $10 for shipping. Occasionally you will find a razor for sale at less than $1, but upon closer inspection you may notice that shipping and handling approaches $20.
I'd not consider posting negative feedback for s&h of $5.25. For that matter, it would be inappropriate to do so for any amount if that information was available at the time of your bid. Caveat emptor (let the buyer beware).

Priority Mail flat rate, not over 1 pound is $4.05 now. Insurance is $1.35 for $50 worth. The $5.25 sounds fine to me. Hopefully he will actually ship via Priority Mail too <g>.
Many eBay sellers use Priority Mail as you can get free boxes for this method sent to you from the Post Office and make labels online which will include delivery confirmation in the process. It's quick and easy and the only method I use. My rates look a little high too at times but they are actual postage and insurance only.

$5.25 is pretty average for shipping. You certainly didn't get gouged. Also, exorbitant shipping by itself isn't a reason to leave negative feedback anyway, since it's posted up front usually. Negative feedback should only be left if the item wasn't as described (the seller flat out lied), shipping was unreasonably slow, and you attempted to get it straight with the seller first.
That's not bad. I really got gouged the other day. $5 for razor $5 for shipping. I got the razor and the shipping the way they packaged it was a whole 86 cents.

For that little bit it wouldn't be worth it plus it actually isn't bad. What I mean is that sometimes when you give a negative feedback that person that you gave a negative feedback to will often give you a negative feedback. There are some on here that will atest to the fact that getting rid of a negative feedback is a real pain in the *ss. :nono:
$5.25 is fair. It helps pay for other incidentals like envelopes, ebay fees, labels, and fees to people like stamps.com if you use them.
UNLESS... they tell you it will be shipped Priority and it is mailed first class. If they say nothing about Priority and ship first class, it's still ok by me because they didn't lie. Some sellers self insure for some items and that is ok too, as long as they pony up if something happens to the package.
Many sellers start the bids at .99 because it is cheaper to list. Then they jack up the shipping charges so they get what they wanted out of the item without paying eBay the extra percentage for it if the sell price went higher.
I understand why sellers do it. Ebay is getting really greedy. Most sellers would like to say what they are doing, but it is against eBay rules, so they hope you just spot the extra ship charges. The bottom line is whether or not you paid a total you were happy with.
In other words, Keaton... Was the razor worth $10? If so, you got a good deal. I know it feels better to say that we paid $9 for a razor and a buck for shipping. Our sensibilities tell us that is fair. But even if it's 1 penny and $9.99 to ship, the story is the same. It's a $10 razor.
The ones who should be shot are the ones who say buyer pays all shipping without saying what they are and then hit you with some high-dollar amount to get it to you. :rant:

To answer your question, I believe the razor was worth $10. That is the one with the camels and silver steel etched on it and the overhoned toe that you said you wouldn't get. The thing is that it shaves better than the rest and holds a very keen edge. Even though the toe is high it will even out eventually.
