Can someone please tell me what is the reason for the bellied hollow grind? Does it behave like a full hollow or extra hollow?
If it's like an extra hollow what was the point of the belly.

I'm not entirely sure, but I think it is simply a grinding technique to allow the edge to be as fine as possible. The belly part gives the blade some stability.
But I could be wrong - it's been a long time since I read the information. Try a forum search for "Hamburg grind" and see what that throws up.
