Removing Scent From Boar Brush

I used hydrogen peroxide since its so cheap. I filled up a cup with it, let a very smelly boar brush soak for about 5 minutes and presto, no smell at all. Its probably not great for the hair, but as long as its only done once I highly doubt that its going to be harmful. I am not completely sure why it worked as well as it did, but those of you with smelly boar brushes may want to give it a try. I was just desparate because my boar brush smelled so awful I couldnt even smell the scent of the cream I was using and it was either remove the scent or get rid of the brush.

That's an outstanding idea. I can't imagine the peroxide would hurt the hair much, doing it only once. I just had to wear the stink out of mine. :D

Hydrogen Peroxide might be okay for the boar brush, but I can't imagine the damage it would do to a badger brush.

I don't remember my Vulfix silvertip having any scent
at all. But my Burma Shave that I bought a few years
back sure did. After quite a few shaves, the Williams
soap finally washed the scent away.

Shampoo and conditioner went a long way for me. And it didn't even want any mouse or styling gel after, not even a hair dryer. A few shaves later and the smell was gone, gone, gone, it's been gone so long ... :rolleyes:

Yea, I'd have to say the wet dog smell of some brushes doesn't last long enough to worry about. Especially if you're using a scented soap. I wouldn't want to risk the damage, even on a cheap boar hair brush.

To clarify, I would never do this to a badger brush! Actually I have never had smelled a badger brush that had a bothersome scent, but if you are at your wits end with a stinky boar brush I highly suggest it.
