Note: Well, that attempt didn't work. I'll try it again and hope I don't blow up the site.

looks a little sparse to me
Its nice to see that I am not the only one with these sorts of problems. Thank you Obie!
Kelly, my good man, I have no idea how these computing machine thingies work. I spent half the afternoon uploading the shave den photos onto SRP. Now I'll probably march in circles until midnight trying to figure out how to attach the blasted pictures to the thread. Somebody bring back the typewriter. Hopefully a computer genius moderator will come to the rescue with the cavalry.

Obie

Obie, had to go into your album, then for each picture right click on it, then select 'copy image URL'. then use the forum tool to add an image to the post.
Repeat 12 times!
Rearviewmirror:
Bless your heart for coming to the rescue. I am grateful.
What an adventure for me to step into the 21st Century, when all along I have always felt I belong to the 19th Century.

Obie, that is , indeed, a very impressive shave den. You have info there to last you a few life times. Congrats!
Quite the collection there.
Glad you got the picture thing.
Great googly moogly, Obie. Looks like you've got one of everything and at least two of the good stuff. Where do you find room to shave in there.
Lori
Obie, a very fine shave den indeed! Many a member will be envious, I'm sure. I yearn for the day I can have my shaving gear out in the open, but with kids in the house and all..........
Obie,
Geezzzz.... I thought I had a lot of shaving equipment.
Your shave den must set some kind of world's record for shaving paraphernalia. It would take me a goodly amount of time deciding which razor, brush, strop, etc. I'd like to use for my daily shave. I'd never get to work.
Congratulations. I'm certain that you get a real kick out of making use of the razors, etc. you have collected over the years.
Hello, Lori:
My bathroom counter is relatively small. That's why everything looks jammed together. I have to keep some things in the closet and take them out when I want to use them. The sink is to the left of that stuff and it, too, has its share of goodies. That shave den is my little private world, where I fade away for about an hour every morning.
Regards,
Obie
Obie, I think you made a mistake. These pictures must be old because I've looked and looked and can't see any Martin de Candre!:gth
Oh My......
That does look like a nice counter-top. I love the straight razor racks.
Hello, LegalBeagle:
Actually I took the photos last night. As I explained to Lori, with limited space on the bathroom counter, I keep many products in the open closet nearby and bring them out when needed. Martin de Candre, I Coloniali, Mitchell's Wool Fat, Tabac, Castle Forbes, D.H. Harris, Coates, Edwin Jagger, Provence Sante, Pre de Provence and Cella are in the closet. Also some of the aftershaves. They come out as part of the regular rotation. The soaps pictured in the mugs on the little shelf are Valobra, L'Occitane, Truefitt & Hill and what's left of my Lothantique Le Collectionneur.
I'm in heaven.
Regards,
Obie
Thank goodness. I was beginning to worry!:w
Hello, Maxi:
Thanks for the compliment. By the way, the straight razor racks were made for me. Each holds 12 straights. There's no room on the counter for another one. Last week I bought couple of multi-slotted toothbrush stands, where I keep some straights. Some of the double edge razors are parked in pipe racks. I also have a tiered wire shelf of sorts that holds some of the vintage Gillette double edge razors.

Obie
Obie! Where's the Randy and Ron duelling Hess'? Its hard to pick them out of such an illustrious lineup!!
On a side-note, I can't wait to meet you at another razor meetup! It was a pleasure picking your brain for hours!
Derek:
Bless your heart for the kind words. And chatting with you at the meet was also a pleasure for me. You are a gentleman.
As for "The Ron" and "The Randy" razors to which you refer, they are the two razors with light scales in the middle of the rack to the left of the barber pole. You'll see five razors with dark scales. The two after them are my Hess razors named for Utopian (Ron) and Randydance (Randy) who were kind enough to hone them at the Wisconsin meeting. Randy also tighten their pins. The one on the right is the 5/8" Hess I call "The Randy" and the one to the left of it is the 4/8" Hess I call "The Ron."
Regards,
Obie
Nice collection!
So this is what my bathroom will look like in the future.
Amazing Obie. I spent about an hour on your blog the other day, and I must say it was quite interesting. I always enjoy your posts. My bathroom is approaching that level, albeit somewhat slowly. Thanks for sharing.
Nope. Never heard of it. I'm assuming it's a cartoon. My boys are 23 and 15. My oldest son does watch Spongebob on occassion though.
Obie, what you need is a safe to lock all the really good stuff up in. If they have gun safes why not razor safes?
That is an awesome collection. :)
Lori
Wow, my wife for just 7 brushes, 6 safety razors and 7 straights want't to kill me because she said that she does not have space, can you imagine?
K
Kiruiz, my friend, explain to your wife that yours is the gentleman's way, and that a gentleman has certain genteel requirements — like the proper and well stocked shave den. That might work. If it does not, a lovely bouquet of flowers works wonders.
Obie:
You are absolutely right. I will try that if ain't work I think I have to replace her (joke). Hey by the way excellent colletion. I hope you enjoy. Congrats
K
My dear friend Obie how many strops do I need hahahahah impressive as always
Hello Tyler,
I tried stropping two razors simultaneously on five strops, but that didn't seem go all that well. So I decided one good strop was all I needed. Then again, I might buy an Illinois 127 for old time sake. Since I started straight razor shaving I don't remember the shave den being without an Illinois 127 strop. It's like walking around without your underwear.
All I have a is a cow strop and horse strop and a strip made out of saddle leather maybe one day I'll get the really good kind
