The thought just occurred to me that I could add in either Lynn or Bill's CD. Do you guys think that would be good for a new shaver to watch? I assume it would. I own bill's but still havent had a chance to watch it, and I havent purchased Lynn's yet. Any opinions on which CD would be easier or more informative for the first time shaver?
I haven't seen Bill's CD but as I newbie I can say Lynn's one is well worth getting. It contains some great info which you just can't get purely by reading, it's great to see the shaving/stropping/honing all demonstrated. Much easier to follow and understand. :)

Anyway, if nobody has a spare brush I can give my travel-size Caswell-Massey. It's good quality, solid product, does not shed. Says Pure Badger on the faux ivory blade but tips are lighter and there is a darker band beneath them...
Two points, though: my Burma shave boar does not smell, and works better with soaps. It's 4.99 or so. I strongly recommend this brush to anybody, and one forum member says he prefers it to SImpson, etc. (which he has too). Also, I really think it would be better to give the person a bigger than travel-size brush. I used this small brush for several years, and I wish I had tried the BurmaShave boar earlier...
I also have a C&E boar I picked up about a week ago, with beautiful wood handle. Can't whip up lather for crap, it's going back to the store (maybe exchange for Nomad AS balm) and I do not feel comfortable giving it to a newb
So, my recommendation is: get a Burma shave brush. I can pay / get one and ship it to you if you want.

Although mine has over an hour of video on it, Lynn's would be a better choice for the person who wanted to take up straight razor shaving.
Mine is geared for those people interested in restoring them. I don't cover shaving with a straight... or stropping.
Both of those topics are a must for the new guy.
Ill check out the burma, thanks Ivo. I have had horrible experiences with boar brushes (omega) and have had some very cheap badger brushes that I have loved. Another route I could go is a synthetic brush. I have heard the synthetics are great but have never used one.Quote:

no all participants have to be contributing members with a history of contributing valuable information to the community who have an interest in, but cant afford to start SR shaving. Our vendor's are not just giving away random supplies because they dont need it, they want to help someone who is part of our community. Please keep in mind that many of our vendor's have home businesses, or make their items by hand and often their profit margins are low, so it is a big sacrifice for them to donate anything to this cause.
It is very important to understand that these items are not unwanted, they are either being purchased by me or donated by the vendor's and are not intended for christmas presents for you or your family.
Everyone else keep this in mind, I am in no rush to give this away, if there is no one at the moment that really NEEDS this stuff, I will wait...I will not jump to give this away. We have had many individuals who did not have the money to start shaving and it took them months and months to save, and or had individual items donated to them.
I started this giveaway because I can't show anyone how to hone, and I cant fix a razor, nor do I have extra equipment to giveaway, however I had a few extra dollars put away for another SRP project that got cancelled, and I decided to put that money towards giving someone else the same type of help that I initially received and the only way that I could this was financially. I am also lucky enough to have many of these items donated so that I don't have a large out of pocket cost, because like many members here, I am not a rich man.
Please don't take advantage of the kindness of myself and our vendor's.
