Maybe a bit on the elaborate side but the workmanship is definitely there.
I saw the birdwing box elder on ebay a while back and was really tempted to go after it. I really like that one a lot.
Pretty but they don't look terribly practical. He's using metal on the scales of some of the razors, I wonder how well that would balance? I doubt he's actually tried to use any of these designs...
Very creative. Personally, I don't like them very much, though.
When closed, that mammoth ivory one looks like a corkscrew of some kind.
I like the design but just to look at not to use. For daily use I prefer no nonsense scales. These are more for showing off!
I think honing and stropping them may be more difficult with such heavy handles. The heavier the handle or scales the more you may lose the feel of the blade.
No matter how practical you've got to admire the workmanship.
I'd take one of Bill's customs anyday over these ones though.

Well, The scales are titanium, so the weight might be balanced to the blade with the material (i.e. gold-lip, mammoth ivory) added on. Hard to tell from lookin' though.
I emailed him about these razors, and how well they might shave. Apparently the guy that bought the mammoth one (is from europe and rather familiar with straight razors), claims they shave better than a Livi! I was expecting it mentioned that they shave well, but to compare/be familiar with the 'other' custom guy, huh.
But again, no tellin' from lookin'. We'll need a test run.
I agree though, they sure are purtty! And it's nice to see different designs....
We'll see. We'll see......

They are different. Definite craftsmanship. Personally, I think I'll keep collecting and SHAVING with my Maestro's.
Have fun.

I think there's a reason straights have been designed in the same general fashion for a loooong time
DAMN Lynn! When are you going to get 2 more and put those puppies in a 7day box?!Quote:
