So I was thinking Military here...

I have had a thought of the odd occassion...Thoughts are rare, but odd occassions less so for me, but I had a thought to ask, Has anyone ever made a cut-throat razor with military field use in mind? You know something that would have Olive drab, black/tan or DP coloured scales and a blued or parkerised blade.
If they have, does anyone have some photo's of it. I just thought it would be a bloody good thing to have something like that, if I were still in the armed forces, and I know others here are in the services and even serving in the field today. How do these men get away with not inadvertantly flashing military secrets in morse code in the duration of a morning shave?!
I think I might convert one of my razors now...

The eminent military inventor Ostentwhistle Chucklebutty came up with just this idea, 'Ostentwhistles chameleon tonsorial device' was presented to the Duke of Wellington as "an effective way for the serving artilleryman to de-beard without alerting the French". The idea was dropped however when Wellington issued standing orders to the effect that his men should be encouraged to grow beards as an aid to camouflage, they would be the ideal medium in which to insert twigs and the like, or be used to attach netting.
Deprived of his means of fame and fortune Chucklebutty retired to Accrington Stanley and lived out the rest of his life in poverty.

I like the idea! Taking it one step further, how about a whole kit in that style - razor, brush, cream/soap, mirror, and small hone - that could fit into a 5"x5" pack, offered in black, foliage, khaki and multicam. For field use in general - hunting, fishing, trekking, clandestine wetwork missions behind enemy lines... I think you have a winner here Mick!

yea and if you put a kit together you better let me know cause it would be a great addition to my collection of military stuff.

There was a guy here who did a field scuttle and posted about it. That'd fit right in with the brain storm I think. I did a razor with military influence. But not tactical military, more "payday activities" military. Brass lined wedge, forest green scales, microfasteners so it could be broke down and cleaned...Even has an eagle stamped on the blade. Nothing like Max's though. lol. I don't have that kind of skill.

would be great but a straight was not allowed in the special forces (don't know about other units), at least not when on mission. Maybe if the blade was dark but as much as I like shaving that was the last thing on my mind most of the time.

In regular joe units, any blade longer than 3 inches wasn't allowed in the barracks. And wearing a knife on your belt was also unauthorized. Jumpmasters could carry their dagger on jumps, and anyone could carry a combat folder on mission. Regular joes still had to shave everyday, cause we weren't special. :P
