Resonably priced stuff Uk

I was looking around the internet for shaving items and come across this web site (posted below), the items on there do seem to be a resonable price.
However i can't vouch for the quality of the goods as i have not bought any of the items.
Just thought it might be of some interest to someone.

Does anyone know if the Filarmonica strop paste on there is just conditioner or does it have abrasive qualities?

Hi,

I have purchased several items from Diamondedge over time and can only recommend this shop - very good and friendly service (plus decent prices).

Both strop dressings have abrasive qualities (my guess would be something between the Dovo green and the Dovo red paste). I think the "official" terminology would rather be paste than dressing :)

These pastes come in a waxy consistence and I found them to be a bit difficult to be applied to the strop, compared to the Dovo pastes....

Just a note - the prices are net of VAT, so you have to add on 17.5%:rolleyes:

If you look next to the price it gives you the price inc VAT in small writing, plus i have phoned them to see what the price of packaging and postage is on the large strop and it was only £2.50 anywhere in the UK.

All in all still good value.

Tom, I have purchased both strops - to me they are very comparable to the ones Dovo has on offer while being quite a bit cheaper. The larger one is my daily strop, which I like very much.

The leather is "Prima Rindleder" quality, which is also imprinted in the leather. My impression is that these strops are made by another company for Dovo etc., and this is also the source where the Diamondedge strop comes from.

curious as to why you wouldn't buy a Tony strop over these. tony has cheaper strops then these that are wider, hand made by him, have hardware ... leather/linen.

i don't know what tony would charge to ship overseas but im sure he would choose the cheapest way and not overcharge you what it costs him.

the larger strop off that site is only 2inch wide... tonys are 2.5 or 3inch for a couple extra bucks

I would love one of tony's Heirloom #1 BEST Wide 3" Vintage Honey Brown Hanging Strop and i did e-mail him about them and got the price of shipping he was very helpful.
I am a newbie on a tight budget (The missis not knowing) and not sure yet that straight razor shaving is for me?

The cost of tony's strop being $64.95 + Shipping $21.90 + import Duty when it comes in to the UK not sure what that would be!!

It would mean that i would not be able to afford a razor hone which i will need sooner or later.

The strop on that site delivered is half the price i know it will not be the quality Tony's strops are!
I still have not made my mind up on what to do i may still Buy one of Tony's strops!!

No offence ment to Tony an his products just short on cash and experience!!!
