that sounds awesome, I can picture the whole thing if I close my eyes.
By the sounds of it Mr. C is a generous with his knowledge as he is abundant with it, I've no doubt he is genuinely thrilled to be able to pass on some of the benefit of his experience as he was some of his equipment.
One of my eccentric hobbies is I'm quite fond of playing violin, hopefully it won't occur for a good many years yet, but inevitably there will come a time when I'm no longer able to play my beloved instrument.
As unappealing as the notion is, worse is the idea that my beloved violin might sit idly gathering dust, unloved, unappreciated and unable to fulfil it's intended purpose, namely producing music, I imagine Mr. C's attitude towards his "instruments" is similar, it's a measure of his generosity, but also of the value with which he holds his razors to ensure they are given a working life that extends beyond his.
It's a marvelous thing that quality violins outlive the musicians that play them, how wonderful the same is true of razors too.

As far as I am aware he had gotten rid of the majority of his kit along time ago, but he didnt mention finishing stones however he did ask me if I had an abrasive strop because he didnt.

He may well have hated doing the shaving but he was fully trained on shaving and everything it entails and did shave his clients with great success, he also trained his own apprentices in later years too.

His way of doing things may be good or bad but thats what I love about shaving, its how you find your way doing it and finding out what works with you, we all have our own little way of doing things that works for each and everyone one of us, its about the journey not the destination.
