Hello all,
You read correct , no more straight shaving . I broke my
left elbow last week and required surgery . Surgery was done on
Saturday - put in a plate .
So obviously my left arm is out for sometime . Back to safety razors.
Enjoy the photos , hopefully not too gruesome .

You not quiting Your just taking a much needed break. I remember separating tendons from the growth plate in my elbow and I did it twice nothing compared to what you did but still sucks atleast youre not in a cast

Well hopefully the doctors fixed you up because since the last time I hurt my elbow it has never been straight ever since it has a bow in it now hahaha
Wow yeah - that is pretty gruesome! When I first glanced at the photo, I thought you did that with the straight lol! Anyway - I wish you all the very best in a speedy recovery. Looks like you have some nice DE's to help you along the way.

'tis but a scratch..... I am glad to see it is only a break and not a permanent departure. I have often thought about not being able to use my arm/hands to be able to shave, what would I do???? I think the Mrs. would have to learn how to do a straight shave on me...

Hope you heal quickly.....but seriously it is just the elbow and everyone knows it is all in the wrist. Wrap a tack cloth around that hand for stretching the skin and shave lefty.
Why back in the day we had to walk 8miles to school in the drifted snow with barefeet uphill both ways without a cell phone and we loved it!

I had my bicycle all tuned up and new tyres (tires) put on , brakes fixed etc. Got a new helmet too . So day before I was going to start commuting to work (25 minutes one way on a dedicated bike route ) , I took a spin around my neighbourhood . To check seat , handle bar height , as I went off the main road - I cut through a lane that runs next to a park . Went over the first bump no trouble , but then there are two more in sequence.Quote:

About 8 years ago I was tooling along at 20mph on a road racing bicycle when I misjudged the depth of a pile of sand washed off a hill onto the roadway. It grabbed my front tire as if I had slammed on the front break and over the bars I went. Landed on asphalt on my scapula. Broke my left collar bone and separated my AC joint. Other than that I was fine. :D
Funny but I had the same exact experience of my head 'flopping to the ground' except I wasn't wearing a helmet. In the milliseconds between my shoulder hitting the pavement and the side of my head slamming into the ground I could see it coming and was tensing my neck to try and avoid the hit. Knocked me out for awhile. I missed 5 weeks work and had to sleep in a chair for 3 months to avoid rolling over on that left side. Shaved with a DE but not as often as I normally would have.
Hope you get well soon. I know the feeling to some extent.
