Ichabod Conk
A general search on straights led me to this page: http://www.col-conk.com/straight.htm I know that they make a barber hone and that they made razors but I didn't know that they still produced them. Has anyone tried their new production razors and are they any good?

I've only seen the razors in person and they looked like Dovos. I own the hone and like it a lot, its about 5K in my opinion (very disputed by the way). I like to hone ebay specials with it at the mid range because I can save lapping on a real hone.

I think that warrants an inquiry :w

I asked them where their production facility is and if they'd be willing to arrange a tour :nj

I don't think there is any question that a lot of their products are re-branded Dovo items. I also understand that the shaving soaps are produced by Van der Hagen, who sells their own soaps and Surrey soaps.

I think Col. Conk has been around since before much of today's current popularity even got started. I remember a local tobacco shop carried some of their items years ago as did the now gone, Cheasapeke Knife and Tool.
They have a large range of items, inexpensive to expensive mostly being rebranded items all assemv]bled into one complete line for Col. Conk.
They actually have some nice entry level badger brushes available......don't be surprised if you see them and/or Tweezerman brushes in my sets at some point.

The conk name goes back a long long way and actually went out of business many years ago. I decided to do some research several months ago concerning them because I saw one of their order pages and noticed their area code was the same as mine in Northern New Mexico so I called them up and was told they are strictly a mail order business like classic shaving and they produce NOTHING. They are actually located in a small town about 20 miles south of Albuquerque called Los Lunas. They just use the Conk name but everything they sell is produced for them.
