Again to reiterate.
I am going to approach the Union Gospel Mission re a canned food/clothing drive. I am going to approach Hair M to see if they want to get on board. I am going to go to some of the higher end "beauty schools" here and give them a flyer so they can come. It will be in a Mason's lodge/Elks lodge etc..
Anything else?
Lets get some ideas flowing.
I received an email back from the UGM and we are going to start generating ideas to get the word out there. I am sure that they have a Press kit or something that would be handy.
I mentioned the even to my barber at HairM. As soon as I sew up the UGM, I am going to hit them up.
I tried looking up some barber supply places here around PDX but my computer was having "issues" that required ITG at work to get involved. Other than that I'm still pretty new to all of this so I'm not really sure of any ideas that might work. I'll keep working on ideas though.
Some of the guys from B&B are planning it out to be there....
I put the link for this new thread into the one that's on B&B along with a call for suggestions on what people would like to see at an event like this. From what I saw I was only the third person to post on the B&B thread.
One of the guys at B&B put together a listing of shops in the PDX area that carry shave soaps, creams, blams, etc,etc.. Maybe we could contact one or more of the shops that have a larger available selection and see if they would like to set up a display/booth or whatever. There were some of the "perfumery" shops listed that you could put together your own custom scented shave creams. The perfume part might be a good one for the ladies. Just a thought.

I am in, I have that whole week off so "The Wifey" and I are planning a weekend+ out of it...
I am still planning on honing, some restoration, and maybe some lathering demo's...
I was planning on bringing one custom restore from Gemstar Customs, for a give away too, but we'll see as we get closer to the date what I can do.....
I hope I didn't break any forum rules or use bad etiquette :( but I went through the google maps here and at B&B and PM'd everybody that was listed in about a 100(+/-) mile radius. Hoping to hear back from some of the other "local" guys who might be able to give a hand with getting some of the deatils worked out. Just have to wait and see for now. I'm going to try to do some research this w.e. as to places to hold this thing. Any suggestions?
i'm way the hell up in bellingham, wa - but if there is some excuse to be down in oregon i'm interested.
I live on the Olympic Pennisula and I have a son who lives in Oregon City. The get together would be a good excuse to do both!! :)

As I said in the OP I am interested in attending. Full time stay at home dad so no guarantees, but I will see what I can swing.
So here's the question I hate to have to ask. How much are people willing to pitch in to help make this get together happen? I haven't even gotten to any of the hotels yet but most of the community centers and Mason lodges in the area require a $500+ deposit then generally $600 per day. I thought we could limit that part of the meet to one day and figure out something else for the other but even so I can't afford to pitch out $1100-$1700. Once again if anyone has any suggestions lemme know. I'd love to hear from someone other than just the voices in my head..

Here's what I've found out from the NW Davis, Old Town Pizza. This location was from a suggestion made by joshmpdx (see link for OTP info).
Old Town Pizza - Banquet / Catering
They have a banquet rm that seats 55people or a smaller rm above the kitchen that will seat 25. The 55p banquet rm has a $550 minimum spend on food etc and the 25p rm we'd have to do a min $220 spend for food (+18% grat). I was going to see about getting over this w.e. to check out what was avail and to hopefully talk to a person (face to face) about what we could get to suit our needs. All in all this would work out to cost anyone attending about $10+ each. I need to ask about if there are any time limitations but for a first time event it's looking like this is going to be the best bet. Questions? Comments? Suggestions?
That sounds like a much better idea with the 25 person room, I would bet if we expand larger than that they would have no problem accommodating us...
you are going to need definite RSVP's as to people coming so you can nail it down...
Mark me down, I am off work and the wife and I are coming can you get me an address of this place so i can google some hotels nearby or somebody suggest one..

The Downtown location is at 226 NW Davis, Portland 97209 It's in the "Pearl district" on the northern portion of the main drag in downtown so I know there's a butt load of decent places in the general vicinity. I don't know about anyone else but I don't really have any desire to hang out at a pizza parlour for 2days, not to mention this is the part where folks are going to have to pay out so I was thinking we might set up Sat at OTP and shoot for something else on Sun. Still trying to get ideas together. So much to do so little time to do it in. So we've got Glenn and I lets hear from whoever else is planning on this. I'll try to find out this w.e. about what type of deadline OTP will need for the reservation.

Sure. Scope out some of the other local members in the Seattle area and see if you can get a group together to work on a future meet. I'd do what I could to make it up.Quote:

Anyway. We're good to start piling in at 11:30 when they open the doors. We are reserved at the NW Davis location. The reserveration is for "up to" 20 people so once again if you'd like to be part of this let me know. This takes care of the 24th so we still have room to work with ideas/suggestions for the 25th. The wife has been bugging me to go to the haunted pizza parlor for years, but it takes a little more than a slice of pizza to get me downtown. :)

Unfortunately due to a lack of inerest the PDX meet has been cancelled. I'll be looking into trying to get something going for next year but if there are any local members who would like to do a simple meet & greet let me know.
