End of the Summer WNY Meet

Ok, it's about that time again before summer winds down, to have one last razor meet before it turns cool. So... Friday Aug 20 4 pm - Sun August 22 Joed and I will be opening our door again to anyone who would like to stop by for some razors show and tell and working out in the shop.

As normal the SRP NY Inn is also open with a few beds still available. RSVP early for best beds...otherwise you may be in sleeping bags on the floor with the labs :)

That's GREAT Rookie. Come as early as you like. If we're not up yet just make yourself at home on the porch, front or back until someone starts churning around. Quickniker is usually up early. I am too but the Friday night meets have been running into the wee hours. Also the Candy Kitchen is the local diner just down the street next to the church. You can see it from our house.

I've been in communication w/ ScottS and he is pretty sure he will be attend also.

Once again, a big Thank You to CarrieM and JoeD for their hospitality. A small but fervent band of wet shaver/razor type folk shared information, laughs, and great food. I am amazed at the information that these people have about razors and hones and sharpening techniques (not to mention soap making skills).

Anyway, as always, it was a fun and informative time, and it's a great excuse to get together with these people. (I know Karen, no excuse is ever needed.)

I hated to miss this meet, I was working a stupid commercial paint job and I've promised to work when asked.

But still.....no pics? Dylan....no pics? Oh well, I'll try to make up for that the next time we get together.

We missed having you, Stimpy. I didn't bring my camera, but I think QuickNicker snapped a few shots off.

Thanks to all that attended the meet! We enjoyed your company, conversation and sharing razor experience ans stories.

This was a nice casual meet at a nice casual pace. On Saturday evening, over some single malt scotch (JoeD and Holli) and CarrieM's soap making supplies (Quicknicker got into the rum) Quicknicker, Holli and I got to playing with the microscope and diamond paste on balsa and on paper. The results were amazing! No over honing, no second bevels (even after stropping) and a scary sharp edge! Quicknicker and Holli were manning the scope, I was honing on paper and Quicknicker had honed on balsa. Maybe some day soon they will create a thread and discuss the results as observed through the scope. I can attest to the scary sharp! This process seems to send hairs flying with the razor's shadow alone!

It was good, once again, to share time and skills with all of you. As well as food, drink, and various forms of tobacco.
I look forward to the next meet. Actually started thinking about it on the way home! As with many enjoyable things, time simply flies by too quickly.

Glad you made it up for a visit, we always look forward to you taking the time to come up. We also have already been thinking about the next meet :). If you get bored (lol) and want to take a weekend trip, come on up anytime!
