NE NY/NJ Meet up March 23, 2011

Dylan (holli4pirating) and I have set a date for meeting up again in Fort Lee NJ. The time will be late afternoon since it is midweek and some folks (me) have to work. Dinner time arrival would also be fine. The location would depend on how many are willing to show up. I have access to a place (range house) or if there are only a few, we can just meet at my house.

I would imagine this may include a dinner or some sort. My idea would be something inexpensive like pizza or Hotdogs or a local diner. There is a famous Hotdog place called Hirams close by.

So, if you can attend post up. If we get a group I'll get the room and post the directions. Anyone needing a pick-up again, let me know.

Would love to attend. I can't commit 100% today, but will look into it and get back to you. I would not be able to meet until after 5pm though. Daytime/afternoon is tough.

Grew up in Westchester and weekends in Manhatten, and I MISS the pizza. Nothing here in Rochester comes close.

Looks like I'll get the range house again. Seems like we have a few. Anyone need transportation help, let me know.

Do we have a time yet? I can't stay too late, because I'm driving back to Rochester straight from there. 6 hours max, so I'll have to leave by... 7PM ish... unless I'm having fun...

Sure we have time. Even if you have to leave by 7 we can hang for several hours.

Oh, I was asking about a start time for the meet. Sorry, that was unclear.

Any word on a start time?

I'm driving from Brooklyn (right by the Brooklyn Bridge) and have room for one in my car. I'll be passing through Manhattan if that helps.

I am pretty sure I can be there by 2PM. I am also pretty sure I can get the room opened earlier if required, just need to let me know.

I can be in fort lee after 5:30pm

I wouldn't be surprised if the party is still jumping. Unless we have to vacate the space.

I am sorry but need to cancel this meeting. It seems I was assigned to work on that evening.

A beast it is. I'll get another date going for April.

Too bad. I'm kinda on the fence about straights. I just can't seem to get a decent edge and I know that my bevels aren't straight or equal on both sides either. I'm starting to wonder if this is worth it for me. I do love to hear the best things about them but I just can't seem to get it to the point that it is satisfying to shave or hone/strop. I know it's a huge learning curve. :boohoo:

Is there anyone around Long Island who can teach me some stuff? I wouldn't mind paying if i had to for a few lessons. Otherweise, too much work for too little return.

The next one could be. This one was scheduled for Wednesday because of me; that's when I was going to be in town and free, and I'd asked Jeff if he could set up a meet.

It is too bad this one didn't go through, but, Jeff, I totally understand and appreciate the work you do (both your job job and the setting up and hosting of meets).

Hopefully it won't be too long till the next one.

I'm sad but glad to hear this is cancelled. I had something come up, though my line of work is far less beastly than Jeff's.

Sorry to see this is cancelled, but the weather may be beastly in any case. Hope to make the next date.
