Straight to the head revisited.

For a long time I was regularly taking the time to straight shave the dome. Well life got hectic and I began using a DE to save time. Then I got lazy and just kept with the DE. Today I busted out the easy aces and absolutely nailed a shave. Seriously forgot how good it can be when I take the time to do it. Been rubbing the dome all day. if you are a headshaver and have not taken the time to learn to straight shave your head I highly recommend it. DE is great but never gets this smooth. Believe I will put the straights back in rotation for my head too. :rock:

I'm new to straight razor shaving to begin with.. i mean really new. I maybe have 30 shaves under my belt, but i've been shaving my head with a de for about a year now. Finally got up the nerve to straight shave the dome...
I just didn't feel like a had the proper or confident grip that I have when I straight shave my face. I ended up having to switch back to the trusty de for the top.. Maybe some day I'll get there...

It is a completely different shave. Angles are similar but you can't see behind your ears and head. Stick with it and practice small sections. I have been shaving my head for almost twenty years now. DE for most of that. Straights only a couple years. I section my head off in four sections with a straight. Top,right,left and back. Start with one section. Do that till you get it right. Then add the next. You can always finish with DE. How that helps. Remember that the skin on your head is soft and thin. Not much cushion so very light touch with a sharp edge is key.

I have found that the right razor helps. The blades I have with thicker tangs, thumb notches and jimps have become my faves for shaving the dome because they provide a firmer grip.

Nothing beats a good straight for shaving. That includes the head.
I've been doing it for oh so many years now, and still get that silly grin on my face when feeling the stubbe loose the battle against a properly honed straight. Love it;)
