Thread: S.R. Droescher Blue thuringian w/ slurry stone

Wanted to try one of these well-regarded hones — essentially Escher hones labeled for S.R. Droescher for sale in the U.S. — but unsurprisingly I’m much more comfortable with bench honing than in-hand.

Dimensions: 4-15/16” x 1-15/16” x 5/8”

Box and label are in excellent condition. Stone is unlabeled and has a few small chips near edges (see pics) that do not affect honing. Nice and flat on the one side but dished a bit on the other (side with imbedded scratches).

Asking $265 shipped CONUS.

I know how ya feel. Im a bench honer myself. Dont feel safe with the stone in my hand and blade slipping around mm above my hand.

Do you use this size stones hand-held? I put them on a rubber mat and use them as a bench hone.

Half-heartedly, Kees. I may need a better fitting, raised platform than the large SG20k rubber base atop some non-slip drawer padding. That's what I tried, but the large Gokumyo base interfered with honing. Putting the stone directly on the thin mat did not raise the stone enough to my liking. Maybe I will play around with it today for kicks.

I've got one of these, you can hold it in your hand or put it flat and use it.

I simply put mine on top of my razor chest and away I go....beautiful soft, yet crisp sharp edge....great stone at a great price.

I put any hone right at the edge of the table on a rubber mat.

Hard to believe this hasnt been snagged up by someone already. Should go quickly.
