After many lappings yes. I lapped many stones with mine. Cnat j nat norton . I dont think you have anything to worry about. Do it under running water and make a grit with pencil to see what they need. I always pick the side with the middle low if possible. Its easier to keep it flat as oppossed to rocking on the higher belly.

Bill, thanks the advice. You said a 325 wet or dry but do you recommend one over the other? Also, any advice on whether these are usable for straight razor repair?

325 can be used for chip removal. If you are going to use it on a blade break it in first or you will get deep scratches. I use all my dmts with a little dish soap to lubricate a little. Light pressure and no circles. Sandpapers is a pita. But lots of guys use it. I don't think you will have to buy another one.

Hello I meant 320 wet/dry sandpaper. When you lap the hone, use it wet and under running water. Don't lap it dry. Whether you use dmts or sandpaper .

Hello,
I've got one of those stones. It's a very rough one, I use it to remove a chip, but don't stick the blade on the stone or it will mark the back of your razor..
