I've found the tech specs on the white lightning media. It's all Greek to me but looks like the bulk of the particle size is in the 30/40 shieve range.
As far as soap, I was going to use a liquid dish soap as the binding agent and see how it works.

How much media paste should I apply to this 8x11 plate ya figure? A tablespoon, covered completely or?
Thanks again gents..

So as promised, the results of my first laps around the plate.
It fast, I'll say that, but not too aggressive in that the flattened stones weren't overly rough.
The grit mix settled into the slots around the plate and the surface felt gritty as hell, but slippery and flat.

The rougher side of a 152 barbers hone.

After 100 figure 8s with light pressure.

After 100 more, done.
Same results on the finer side of the hone.

200 8s on each of both sides lapped the hone flat. After hours on my dmt 600/1200 I hadn't gotten nearly that far on the same stone!
I finished both sides on the dmt after the big plate and the hone sucked up tight to the dmt like never earlier so I am confidant this stone is flat!
Tried my tester blade on the stone with only water and the pattern and feel we're smooth and even.
So all in all this seems an awesome stone leveler..
Cheers.
