Trying to understand some of the info provided by Lynn and other experts on this forum. It has been said that the diamond spray leaves it's' own scratches and they can be polished off by the CO paste. If the are both .5 micron how does this work?

Diamonds abrade the metal differently than CrO. Diamonds are as you know hardest material and will leave deeper scratches that can be smoothed by CrO softer particles.
0.5 micron diamond spray leaves very nice edge, I personally like it better than CrO edge. There is no need to use CrO after .5 diamond spray
Thank you. I have been using the spray on my C12k and it is creates a grey slurry. Plain water never changes from clear even after 100+ laps.
Some of that slurry is probably stone particles, and some iron from the razor. Slurries are like a lottery, though, except one where the result is the same for a combination every time. You never know what you're going to get until you try them - but there is more dimension available in tools where having a huge glom of black iron in the slurry is desirable. In razors, I guess that would just tell you that you were wasting off WAY too much razor, as a maintained razor can stay sharp idefinitely without seeing much or any iron in the water on a finish stone.
Everyone has different preferences in edges, but as stefan says, the geometry of the grooves is quite different. Chromium oxide will polish just about anything, and still cut some (aside maybe from vanadim carbides), and diamonds will cut deep grooves in anything -right through any carbides you'll find. they both make an edge you can shave from, and even though to my sensitive skin, diamonds leave a bit of a more coarse crispy edge, I could learn to shave from them without issue and without razorburn if forced to.
