Old Toolbox find
Today I found a few sharpening stones while going through an old toolbox. Here are some pics. If any look familiar to y'all please feel free to comment! #1 is black as coal and has 633 COLUMBIA E24 and possibly the letter "T" stamped on the back. #2 is double sided and has evidence of oil drops on the corse side. I made #3 wet to help show the fine surface and its burgundy color. It is very hard and heavy.

The first one is hard to tell with that pic, but a close up of it's sides might help,,,the second is a dual grit Carborundum or Norton Crystolon (Norton's word for silicon carbide).
The third,,I have no idea,,, it has a stamp showing in the photo, what is the stamp?

Although it appears that way, there is no stamp on #3. I'll post some more shots in a few mins my friend.

Oh dang,,,that's a reflection of a painting on the wall,,,,:rofl2:

I can't say, but I'll throw some GOOGLE FU on those numbers & Columbia tonight,,,see what I come up with.

mhh....Nr. 1 & Nr. 2 i wouldnt use on razors....the third looks most interesting for me...it looks like a natural Hone in some kind....but the Stamped Numbers do not fit to a natural one...is there another stamp with black numbers on the side ?
Could you post another picture of the lapped side with water ? (direct view to the stone without mirroring the background)

I have a small norton that I use on tools and such that looks really close to #2. I don't even recall the grits off the top of my head, but I'll find out and let you know. If it's even the same stone...

The numbers are stamped on the back of the stone in picture#1, the small black one. The burgundy stone in pic#3 has no letters or numbers. It seems pretty fine. Definitely more fine than my 4k but not as fine as my 8k.

Red mystery stone
So I got this thing nice and flat today, took care of the edges and any chip or nick. I think it will work nice on razors. I'll need some time to determine its grit.
