Don't 325 or 600 lap then rinse then use slurry stone and watch magic happen
I used 150------------400 sand paper,then slurry stone ,but found out even the slurry stone needed a cleaning up,was scaring the stone:dropjaw:
Just another comment on breaking the stone. Each stone has its own spirit. It's bad enough that you've taken it from it homeland. Now you want to break it?
(It's the same for any stone, Garden stone when moved need to be oriented in the same direction that they were in when found, standing, laying, etc).
And just when i thought there was enough mysticism surrounding honing, now we learn that stones have spirits.
In that case, im going to need an exorcist, based upon how roughly I've treated my 1k bevel stone - that is going to be one angry hone-spirit.
I took a mini hacksaw to my Nagura...
Me = Fool :(
I made a lot of smaller pieces that made slurry much easier but the were scratching my Shoboudani.
The larger pieces decided to fracture on there own .
At the moment I'm down to one bit that works ok.
I should never have tried to cut it up .
Scoring lines in the bottom was the way to go.
Now I have to buy a new one... Also my honing seems to be going backwards.. I swear ive cursed myself , honing wise, chopping up that stone :(
