chosera 5k
gents,
love my choseras i just bought.. i have a question about my 5k chosera.. its actually a thirsty stone.. i dont soak it .. i spray and go.. it seems to absorb alot of water while honing .. is this supposed to be doing this should i soak it a lil prior to honing??

Just keep splashing water on it. It will settle down after a few honing sessions and flattenings. At least mine did:)

Same experience here. I just got the 2k chosera and after some use its not as thirsty as it was when I got it. The low humidity from being indoors in the winter will have more of a drying effect IMO.

While long term soaking is not recommended, I soak mine for a couple of minutes while setting up to hone. After that, an occaisional spritz will maintain standing water to watch. The 5K and 10K Choseras act the same way.
rs,
Tack

I have the 5K and you are right it's one thirsty stone but you just got to keep spraying it, I always run it under the tap for a little while before I start.
