I just picked up the Naniwa Chosera 600 CHEAP. It works fast. I've had a chance to use one that belongs to my friend mrsell63 and I was impressed. Working out chips and uneven hone wear will be a breeze now.....I hope!

works well indeed.
Another good one is Sigma Power 400.
I might look into one. I like the 1K just fine
I was thinking of picking one up for my knives. Though it might be useful for some eBay razors that need a bit more than a 1k on its first hone.
Definitely want to use tape using a 6oo me thinks.
I have a DMT 600 which happens to be the most perfectly flat DMT I've ever had, and I've had more than a few. Anyway, I have on occasion taken a really needy edge to it. Most of the time I can get by fine with the 1k because I won't ordinarily buy razors that are in the shape that would require that coarse a beginning. Now and then I run into them in spite of that resolution so glad I have the plate.
I would say for 36 bucks it was a score. They sell for about double that. I love mine and any problem blades get a roughing in with it. DMT 600 is another choice for faster cutting, although I prefer a stone to a diamond plate almost always.
My Chosera 600 arrived last night in great condition. Marc from Independence Razor in Ohio was such a great eBay seller that he sent me a few gifts along with the hone (pivot washers, brush and stand). I'm not sure if he is a member here but I'm going to find out. He's a stand up guy and I'm sure his company has a lot of offer!
