I picked this hone up yesterday when my wife and I went antiquing it is a grey natural(?)water hone that produces a tan slurry. I have been trying to lap it to remove the imperfections. There were gouges on this side that weren't very deep but the other side looks like someone took a chainsaw to it. I forgot to mention that I created the slurry with a DMT D3C.
How about some close up’s of the stone face wet and dry and some of the edges and sides?
What does it smell like?
What is the size?
Is it soft or hard?
From the pictures, and from chips on the side I would say is a kind of manmade stone. How hard is? Is smell oily?

As I said, I will try to get some better pictures posted but it is some what of a complicated process for me as I have to jump through a bunch of hoops just to post them. I seriously doubt that I will try the taste test, I will leave that up to the experts.
