Thanks to Wolfpack and a little show and tell

As some may know I've always liked the honing side of this hobby, whether I'm good at it or not :) This site is full of helpful folks, like Euclid440 (Marty) who showed me the basics a while ago, to wolfpack34 (Mike) which has guided me on countless conversations concerning stones and honing. It was such a breakthrough to get consistency in honing and since then I have enjoyed naturals immensely, through good and bad - and a new found draw to barber hones. I like everything from the history of the hones to their individual characteristics and unlocking their codes.
Anyway, big thanks to everyone and especially Mike for his countless pointers and "secrets". I have a bunch of "wants" on the list and lately I've been able to snag some good deals. Here's a snapshot of my rock garden...

Forgot to mention I have 1, 5, 8 and 12 Naniwas. Those are my go to stones for consistency - just couldn't fit them in the pics!

Hmm, favorite, that's a tough one! Even though the latest to give a fantastic edge is the Escher, if I could only have one I'd prob pick that first coticule or a Frictionite, since it seems they are jack of all trades. Honestly that frictionite is a little wonder.

Your just trying to infect me with that HAD thing and I already have more stones than I ever thought I would. Maybe I am still in denial? No, I don't have it ........ They just happen to be next to dDucks when I was pulling the trigger ,,, honest :<0)

You may not have it, but that doesn't mean you won't GET it. In fact, with such close proximity to wolfpack's collection, it's only a matter of time.

Come on , just those? Just joking, very nice collection. See most of the job is done at 1k level and nobody have more than 1 or 2
1K level. Finishers we have 8-10.

Yeah the lower grit stones don't get all the love :)
I tell you though, that carborundum is one useful little stone. Setting bevels, lapping, slurry stone. Mike got me on to that too

Some of us have a few dozen more than than that.

How do you guys even find these old threads?

You can do a search on anything of interest and threads of any age can come up in them. I suspect that is how most of the necro-posts occur.

i like revisiting the old threads. Some of us werent here way back in the day.
