My king 1/6 is finally fully replaced.
Just taken delivery of a new rock. The Chosera 1K without base. And with that my first hone that was picked up as a cheap learning stone is now replaced.
The king 1/6 has been a fantastic beginner stone to me. While the 1K side has been slow but perfect to learn on, The 6K side has been more problematic and not as smooth as a 5K naniwa super stone.
The King has shown me how to hone, At a budget price, And in it's function at cost it has been flawless. The king has had a lot of playtime on it, To smooth out the 6K side it's been soaked in oil. It's been flattened in as many methods as you could mention on the forum.
While the 6K side is not a finisher it is a reasonable mid grit stone to use if you have acess to an old natural in the 8+K region. I've been lucky in having one or two of those available.
As for what to do with my now replaced stone. That's a harder question. I might gift it to my mum for her japanese chef knife.
My full rotation as of this minute is.
1K chosera, 5, 8, 12K naniwa super stones, And a good batch of naturals.
I'd just like to give a shout out to everyone I've badgered and bothered to date! I know RSI is a physical thing, I sometimes feel like I have a forum equivalent, Asking the same question in 4 different ways to try get the answer I need.
Thank you all for getting me to this point, It's been fun, And I think It will continue to be fun.
ATB Blake.
