+1 with JTmke's remarks.
Nothing worse then old tape.

Press the tape onto a cloth towel before applying it to the razor. It will then leave very little residue and tape brings that right off.
The particular brand I get, GB electric, doesn't leave any residue to speak of. I had 3M that was a complete mess, but yes I think it was old..
I use 3M Super 88 heavy duty as already stated the easiest way to remove tape is with tape, but another reason I prefer 3M Super 88 I find it's the best tape for little or no transfer to the hone heavy duty sure means it when it comes to this tape.
Heat will destroy tape and cause this. If you have more than 1 roll keep the spares it in the fridge. ( garage fridge if you have 1 of course) I worked in a paint shop and we kept all the tape in a fridge. It is more evident with thin tape like we used for pin striping and guides and such.
Thanks, gonna start doing this with my tape,,, extra rolls. I just learned about 4 months ago,,, keeping my 3m 5200 glue in the fridge after opening it. Before I lost 2 tubes that would swell the cap, bust & get hard , then have to be tossed. The fridge keeps them from swelling.
I like the "Duck" brand - never leaves any residue on my blades or hones - available at most big chain hardware stores... 3M is a mess.
