Question about chinese synthetic hones

I Have many natural hones , and many synthetics from rusia and even Makita 1200 grit amd i am very happy with the results , but i want to buy a 1 or 2 stones from this site , i buy some folder knifes from there and the quality is stunning . What do you think about theese stones from UUSHARP . I have see the Taidea 8000 stone and it is a quality one ,like the Makita or King 1000 - soft stone but fast and cheap 8000 white corund stone . Did anyone tried one of those and what do you think abbout this low prise and free ship . It is posible to be a bad deal . If you are experienced with the synthetics , please tell me , if it is worth to buy .

It is a cheap stone and please do not think that this is a spam or comercial . I want to know opignions - to buy or not to buy - this is the question.

There are a couple of threads that mention these hones. From memory 1 said they are oem hones and the same as the taidea and a few others. Try using the search and you should find the treads. Just type uusharp in the search box. Good luck.

They are not… that cheap, why take the chance, buy a quality stone proven for razor use.

You only need 2 stones, a 1k and a 4/8K stone.

Set yourself up for success.

If you have the money to buy it with the chance it might be ok for razors then go ahead. If your not into gambling then go with the proven stones. Kitchen knifes are not as critical as razors. $40 is not bad. Might work fine. It sounds like you already have a good variety and looking for something new.

I got Taidea 8 K this morning and i have to say that im plaisantly surprised .
For the prise it is amazing hone ,fast doesnt autoslurry itself , so its not a very soft stone . It clugs so need palm rubbing every 20 strokes for maximal speed , but its realy good ,in my opinion .
I bought recently KAI 3 K but its a harder hone and not so thirsty like the 8 K Taidea . They are both White alumina hones and i like them a lot .
First impresions are for a good and consistent , quality hone . They work very well on a rusian Volga 6/8 hard steel razor .
I ordered and im waiting for a King 6K stone , but im thinking of 5 K Taidea to get a white alumdum progretion .

I bought two of the uusharp stones out of curiosity, because they look like japanese stones. They release particles so fast they're useless, to the point that they make a gigantic sloppy mess.

I'd avoid them.

I didn't buy them because I needed them, but instead just out of curiosity because the abrasives that all of the synthetics use are pretty similar. It would seem that there's no reason a third world country can't make a good synthetic hone and do it inexpensively. The reality is, they're junk at this point - they haven't figured out how to make a good copy of japanese synthetics. I literally had to throw mine in the garbage, they were too junky to be worth the cost of shipping them to someone. Just terrible.

I had one that was green (I think it said it was 3000 or 2000 grit or something) and one that was white and I can't remember the color of the other side (it was two sided). Avoid them for now.

They are not good for chisels Dave , for sure , but for razors they work for me . I expected a bad hone , but im surprised . I bought mine especialy for razor sharpening , not for chisels that you need a hard stone.
Instead of trouing them in the garbage , you couldnt send them to me , i will be very happy to use them . I only sharpen razors and kitchen knifes .
I like a softer stones so i buy them but they arent bad at all for a prize of laping film i get hones :rock:

They are long gone, waste management took them away about a year ago!! :)

I'd still not recommend them for anyone who is looking for a bevel setter in a world where something like a shapton 1000 costs about $35 from tools from japan (thanks to the nice exchange rate).

Only slightly more than the uusharp stones cost me. I didn't try them for razors, though, so I could be a little off.

i have a 3000/8000 chinese synthetic and it does the job. i also have a couple of barbers hones and i nice strop so they seem to all work together and i get good shaves out of the edges that i make.

Technically, China is a Second World Country (First World - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia).

Still, thanks for your evaluation of these hones. I'll hold off until they improve their bonding tech.
