Placeholders are fine - but you can't edit a post after a certain amount of time. Can't remember how long. A day?
What you get??

$655 for a hone though, ugh
Lord Thunderin' Jesus the Angels will be dancing on your edges...congratulations, that's a sweet stone, enjoy getting to know it. ;)
edited to add: When was the stone mined...just read the story behind that stone...wow, 900 years, weapons finishing...that is an incredible stone you have...
I've watched that stone for several months. I wanted it, but resisted. Couldn't figure out why it lasted so long, not sold? Hard and fine, and I suspect will be a fine finish stone for razors. Congrats!!! Still wish I had it, but I already have too many.
Glad an SRP member has it. :tu
Best Regards,
Howard :)
Howard I will report back.
At that price, this ought to be the ultimate finishing stone. I hope you get the best edges of your life. Congrats.
Congrats, I eyed that one too. I really like his vintage stones. I have a couple of them and they are smoother than most. You should get some killer edges off it at 9.2 fineness.
Cheers, Steve
It's arrived! I had shaved last night prior opening the package. Initial thoughts:
1. It's greyer than the picture shows. I didn't like that too much, but my displeasure there isn't so significant.
2. MUCH heavier than I would have expected. I have an Ohira Suita I keep for chisels and plane blades. It's about the same size as that stone, but MUCH heavier.
3. Got a nice feel. Good 'stiction'. I appear to get a better edge off of it than my other stones. Two points about this. 1) I have two other very excellent jnats. I have NO DOUBT than my honing skills are no where close to adequate enough to assess the quality of any these stones. I'm just not there. 2) I probably the better edge because I spent more time playing with the new toy.
I'll shave with that edge tonight and let you all know.
By the way, I DO know how to sharpen the hell out of a chisel and can do what I feel are valid stone-to-stone comparisons for that tool. I'll do a chisel test next week and letcha know.
Okay, wrapping it up....
The shave, it was very nice!!
