    Rocks don't smell!!!

It's what happens to them once they start to weather and how folks treat them that give them personality.

I think all you folks with natural stones should treat them right. Take them out to dinner some evening. They love Rock Lobster with scotch on the rocks. Just watch how much they drink. You don't want them to become stoned.

i just managed to get hold of this from also from auction, looks a bit beat up and will require some TLC to get it fighting fit but... Including postage i got it for £9 (approx $14) that alone would make work getting it back in shape worth the effort
By the looks, size and red banding this stone could very well be a Charnley Forest, or possibly a Lynn Idwall once cleaned up and flat should turn out to be a very good stone.

The one in the box may not be glued, except by slurry and swarf.

Hold it in your hand and tap down, on one end of the box with a small hammer. You will hear it when it breaks loose, the sound the tap makes. Then tap the other side and ease it out.

Soak in Simple Green or like degreaser and water, Oven cleaner if it is really dirty, then a degrease soak, lap and put some razors on it.

Nice fines, the other looks like a CF, another nice find.

In my experience these little thuringians either come out right away or are glued down. They seem a bit too soft to try that tapping method. I once broke a BBW using that method. I expected it was put coti side down in the box but it was only BBW and glued down.

Heat or water removal techniques will be safer for the stone.

i managed to lap it still in the case, it was already in pretty good shape, im a little scared to try putting a hammer any where near it, dont mind it being set in the case tbh.
i will get some pictures up of the other when i receive it and get it cleaned up some.
