Here is my American Slate stone, it is stamped American Clearing Stone and unlike the 3 light green Thüringen’s I have.
The most unusual thing is the slurry, it is very thick, sticky and bright pea green, like split pea soup. It is not as fine a hone as some of my other light green Thüringen’s.
The other interesting thing is it has no saw mark on the sides or ends like most slates.
I have posted it before but never seen one like it.
American Hone was a hone manufacture from New York that made the famous Frictionite hones, but don’t know if they are the same company as The American Clearing Stone Company, perhaps they were imported.
I have seen some French hones that produce similar slurry and color. It is debated if they are slate or Coticules.
Is yours stamped?

Looks like a nice stone. +1 on not using oil.

Mine is more of a black to gray but the slurry looks to be about the same color. Love mine for a finish / touch up hone!
