Black Arkansas Hard
I wanted to thank the guys for helping me on the the last Arkee thread. I was able to lapp the stone through 2k W/D sand paper and put a pretty good shine on it. Still needs a little work with a bit tool, but it's much smoother and that transfers right to the razor. Thanks again for the help.

Nice. That's a huge looking stone. I really like the blacks that Dans sell.
-
Dans sells quality stones, I saw an interview with him once and he's been in the business a long time.

Go to his shop if you can ,, he's a great guy and so many stories him and his son will spend all the time you want and they are so nice ,,, as a side story. Dan will show you some very unusual stones. Tc

I grew up in South Arkansas and know Hot Springs area well, if I pass through there again I will make it a point to stop by and see his shop. Thanks for the info. -Big Greg-

Very nice. Dan's has the best hard (black and trans) of any of the new ones I've tried. Perhaps the natural whetstone gray trans (that they call a black trans) is as good, but the dans stones have a better surface preparation.
You'll like it.

Beautyfull stone , good finisher i think. I have 1 black ARc snd a few turkish novaculites and some lydian novaculite and i am telling you , no other stone canot give such ferocios sharpness , combined with smooth edge , such as the black , fine novaculite . The more you polish them om the sandpaper and flat surface , finer grit finish you will get .
I have a few finishers and Esher blue - green , but a black novaculite is somethg magical , i am telling you . Work on this stone , and you will love it . Gives smoothness without decreasing the sharpness of the blade.
