This is my new cretan hone , so called Turkey oil stone . An amazing , fine and very fast novaculite . Mounted in a wood block .
There is nothing turkish in this Greec novaculite , amazing as they say . Mine is a lower quality and again he smashes coticule in the speed .
I would buy more , if i have an oportunity . Again - amazing stone .

I thought that was a funny looking hone until I realized it was a link. Your signature looks like advertising. You are happy with your hone and your pipe tobaccos......happy is good. But you insulted the coticule and made the hone unhappy.

The OP merely stated that his new hone is faster than Coticule, my guess is the Coticule he owns.
I agree blanket statements should be avoided since there is no way one can try all hones in the world to compare qualities.

Natural hones vary in qualities and Coticules are not an exception, there might be Coticules out there that are finer than your Cretain hone.
I understand that you are comparing to your coticule, but a lot of people here will not or pretend not to.

Is faster always better? I have no idea what the answer is to this but I believe it may not be a simple answer.

Yes i am talking about my coticules , two natural combo and 1 pure . I dont mind to offend nobody , just expresing my humble opinion. Maybe my english is the reason , sorry . I think , that my new hone is faster and is finer as a Belgian coticule .
May be some people are too sensitive about coti or thuri , arent they just a honing stones .
Almost every sintheic beets the naturals , by many points , ist it .

Your English is way better than my Bulgarian or Russian....the guy you should listen to is mainaman......I'm more of a class clown but you are right...people get very passionate about their hones.
