Naniwa 12k. ;)
Your shaves will be smooth sailing now. Congratulations
I hope so... I want to be able to refresh my razors. I'm sure my neck and chin whiskers could be used to strengthen steel bridge cables. As a result, it seems my razors only last for about 20-25 shaves before they start tugging and pulling.
It sounds like you need more razors Dave !
You will love the 12K
This has been my thinking as well.My cheek whiskers shave off no problem, but the neck tingles after cause the hair is much thicker.until now I've been refreshing on an 8k and paste, hoping the 12k will be smoother and take away the tingle.
I love mine. Good buy :)
I think I will, from all the reviews and comments I've read here. I'm cheating a little and trying to back my way into honing. If I can practice on the 12k with just a few circles and X strokes, I can refresh my blades for sometime before a full honing will be needed. (if I screw it up, I don't think the 12k will do serious harm, and I can send the razor/s to one of our pro's)
That's my logic (which has been shown to be flawed in the past) anyway.:gth
Love the stone, when I decided I would get into honing, I decided to start with refreshing first using the Nani 12k, and I had success virtually right out of the gate. I watched this video several times, Lynn uses the Nani 12k at the 10:30 mark in the video:

Nobody will ever confuse the edges with those off a jnat, but it will keep your razors sharp that's for damn sure.
I've heard that too, MJB. But right now, I want to keep it simple until I have the skills to obtain consistent results. If I do well with the Nani 12k, I will get the 5/8k and eventually the 1k so I can do a full honing. I allready have the RAD, SAD, and BAD. I'm trying to hold back the HAD.:banghead:
That's the way I did it, my razors were all pro-honed, so I wanted to be able to refresh them, if that's where I wanted to stop - so be it, that was a good place to be, I could go for years like that.
After the Nani 12k, couple of Gold Dollars and started practising until two weeks ago I did my first razor from bevel to finish, and it was a tough one to, with huge challenge to get a bevel on the toe and heel area, it shaves fine, and from here it's a continuous learning process, but I will still be refreshing my razors far more than I'll ever be going from bevel up...I think we approached it pretty much the same way. ;)
My new Nani 12k with holder and lapping stone arrived!!! Another perfect order from Straight Razor Designs!
Time to see if I can lap her, and refresh a couple edges. My ATG on the neck is very excited.
:chapeau
Anyone have specific lapping tips or instructions for this particular stone? I'm getting ready for work right now, but as soon as I get time, I'll do some searchs and reading before I attempt lapping and refreshing...
That's what I was thinking too...
