I use Pike/Norton lilly white washita and a soft arkansas for pocket knives. I also have the translucent and the hard black, but I wouldn't bother gilding the lilly with those. They are for razors if I take a notion to go that way. DMT D8C for my Chicago Cutlery kitchen knives I bought 30 years ago.

I would second the motion on the Arkansas stones. I've always kept them handy for small tools, they're affordable, easy to use, and don't require much maintenance. They're pretty cool to work with too.

In the kitchen? I run one of those carbide 'V' things across them and they cut great!
Don't be starting another OCD thing here! :D
