Sure; they're still useable. You might want to sand the sharp corners of the chips a little so that the razor doesn't catch on them while honing.
I've done soooo much worse...this will be fine.
JeffR is correct, chamfer the corners (I use the DMT) and then check for sharp edges with your fingers. SC paper on a dowel rod would ease out any sharp edges, don't go wild, this is not bad...
Chunks out of the middle of the stone would be another thing...
Smooth shaving...
I'd smooth out the edges with a DMT 325........ Shouldn't take too much to get rid of the nicks.
OR you sand out (very small amount) the nicks so they aren't a factor on the hone when honing.
Either way.... I'd sand those edges down a lil bit....
Yep, that's not serious at all. Instead of lapping it on a DMT plate, I'd just get some 300 grit wet/dry sandpaper and smooth it out (a lot) around the chips. You don't want your blades catching the edge there, but you also don't want to lose too much of the edge of the stone.
Incidentally, it looks like your hone edges could do with some chamfering. Do that, and it will prevent chips in the future and also protect the edges of your razors.
I've got a couple sink dings on the edges of the hones too, I don't even notice they are there while honing. Like everyone else said you're gonna be okay.
Thanks guys. I appreciate the encouraging words and tips!
On this stone nebilo chamfer, it is better that it was. I always make a chamfer on the stone.
