Today was a very nice day. I went to one garage sale. There was another Geezer there and i asked if he had any hones for sale. He looked in his tool box and asked if I wanted this one.

Nice score!! I'd pass out if I found one like that in the wild. I go to flea markets and antique stores all the time and usually all I see are carbos, b-hones and a soft ark here or there. The only good stone I've ever found was an 8" coti (my first coti actually) but at the time I didn't realize what a score it was.
First boxed set i have found so I do not know for sure if the box color is significant. My son traded for a yellow boxed one which is a Y/GQuote:

I had no money with me and offered a check for the amount. I had to keep a straight face. The hones were label side down in the box so I didln't know for sure. I did have a good guess! They happy and I happy!Quote:

That is an awesome story. I find razors in the wild when I get to the mainland. I am yet to find a razor hone. All in good time. I am happy for you on your big score. The only thought that comes to mind is who goes to a yard sale without cash?

In the last year and a half (since Ive had HAD)I've found 3 thuris (unlabeled) a coti and a couple of washitas at flea markets.
Maybe I'll never find another hone now.

I agree, if a person don't look, they don't score...even on the 'bay. I average about 4 decent stones a year. That said, I do put on a lot of miles. I like to drive and antiquing gives me a reason. Getting to the point that I leave razors there and some stones also.Quote:
