Not sure if it is 2 separate layers and its natural of it was synthetic. It almost looks like it is natural and not an exact line. Like te natural coticule. Looks like another escher I have.

It looks like a thuri to me. The two tone may be due to a case if it's not the stone itself.
Well well ;-) nice stone i tend to say a natural two toned Thuri...
Only one way to really find out..... Clean er up, flatten it and post some more pics when thats done with some slurry on it. The stone guys should be able to give you a more positive answer then. I'm optimistic that you have a nice stone there.
Yes, a DMT 325 would have it flat in no time
Yeah I'd say two tone thuri...the white in the scratches tells me a whitish slurry buildup
Yes they are around ;-) dont cleant or flat to much, due to probably relevant traces like sawmarks or the side where the label may have been glued in the past....flat the working side and probably the one you already made looking flat for showing, nothing more needed...also leave the backing like it is...

Well as much as someone can be sure from viewing pictures your stone is a natural combination thuringian hone. The overall appearance and all typical details fit and vote for a thuri.
I had posted some examples here a while ago:
