Very nice find, any idea where to find another?
Nice one!!
@FAL: need a labelled one ?
Nice stone Chopper Dave,
I've watched the auction.
These hones were sold by the thuringian company Habermann. The family and name Habermann was a very well known name among the thuringian whetstone companies.
They rented several thuringian quarries from the mid 19ths century till the early 20ths.
Here is a short list about rented quarries in the thuringian area in the year 1883 where you can find the name Habermann quite often.

The stones were sold in boxes with different colors. Here are a few:

Peter you always surprise me ;-) thanks for posting!!
Great info! Thanks.
I have not used this hone yet... But, I have a couple razors that need a refresh so I think I will try it. Everyone says the Thuri's and Eschers leave a buttery smooth edge. We'll see if my skills are up for it.
Wish me :gl:
Wow! Great looking NOS Thuri!
So the NOS Thuri is not so NOS anymore. I refreshed a few of my favs yesterday and today. I was surprised how fast this stone cuts. And, it leaves a silky smooth, sharp edge. Very happy with this Gnat.
I had no idea Thuringian hones would cut as fast as this one. Is that normal for Thuri's?
If that Thuri had a Carborundum in the woodpile long ago,,,:shrug:
;)
