Echoing everyone else.
Yup the gok 20k is a fantastic hone, and in my opinion the best synthetic finishing hone, stupid easy to use and consistent. It is however not a magic hone. As with all finishers, you cant build a house on sand. I too go from the Naniwa 10k but test shave my razors before going to the 20k, if all good 10 laps or so is usually enough for me to improve an edge. Whether the improvement is worth the extra bucks is for you to decide.

These folks are right. There is no magic in any stone. But I don't think that was the question. I just finished a half dozen razors on mine today. It might not be magic but it's as close as a I will get to that. There's a reason why so many of us have one. It's not because they suck. I still suggest having a razor finished on one by someone who has one. See if you like the edge.

Well, that's why I asked if he was just looking to add the best finisher he can get, or if he was new to honing all together. That information wasn't in the post I quoted. Since it's the latter, and he's curious what lies beyond 12K then by all means dive in. Play and experiment! One can never have too many rocks after all!
I didn't say it was a bad hone by any means. Just meant to indicate that it's probably not a good place to start.

I have many different finishing stones , and have tried a lot of stones.Imo the 20 k provides a great smooth edge consistently .. I would take it over a Jnat any day of the week..Once you figure the stone out like anything else it will give you great results
