Hi,
http://i1062.photobucket.com/albums/...psslwkqfm7.jpg
I try to hone my kamisori with this stone as base stone together with my JNAT nagura (don't know wich one is it I get this one with my Shoubudani from JNS), and La Grise slurry stone from my Coticule.
I find that Montenegro stone is very good as base stone. After progresion with JNAT nagura I get cloudy surface and honing on Montenegro stone with clear water after that leave some light scratches on that cloudy (but smooth) surface.
After that I try to rise slurry with Coticule slurry stone. After Coticule I get more clearly finish (If I compare with JNAT) but with some scratches on surface. After that I did some X-strokes on Montenegro stone with clear water and after that on runing water to finish honing. Here I didn't notice any new scratches from Montenegro stone so I think that grit of Montenegro stone is similar with Coticule.
I didn't have time to document this with USB microscope so I use only my eyes.
P.S. I like to use my old kamisori with big hone wear to test stones because I have nice and big surface to look. When I find time I will regrind this kamisori to look as new ;) Kamisori is made from old bearing (52000 steel).
