Are you doing a forward flip or a back flip? There are two directions to flip, the faster one is riskier. I like the riskier one.
Don't hit your edge on the edge of the stone... we have all done it. Like the guys have said try to isolate when this is occurrence happening. If it seems to happen more in the finishing stages of honing it could be something simple as your arm getting tired and letting your elbow drop below the level of your honing station. Also be aware that there is a usually weak side and a strong side to your pass. Practice and confidence will overcome these minor challenges. Keep that elbow “UP” sir.
