My First Coticule Selected
-
I had one delivered recently, although I must have cheaped out as mine didn't arrive with a box
Haven't had the opportunity to use it properly yet but just bought a old soviet razor on ebay so I expect its time will come soon!

I'm looking at getting 1 of these, are they a good Stone to start with?

Yes and no :) Yes they can be, but you will have to put some effort into getting the best from them.
From my experience:
Initially I was disappointed on my first use of a coticule (a La Verte). Compared to my Naniwa SuperStone progression, the edge seemed 'lacking'.
What I didn't know at the time was that each coticule has its own 'personality', and you have to experiment to get the best out them.
Now, some few years later, I would not be without my coticules - I have the La Verte, two (2) La Veinette's and a 'unknown select'.
All now give me superb edges. I have found, for me, that the edge they leave is also a super place to start when progressing to JNats.
I would say get yourself a coticule, and 'learn it' :) They are great stones to hone on, and very enjoyable and versatile to use :)
Have fun :)
Best regards
