    Default Duro Double Hone

Any one have one of these bad boys? I picked it up off the bay for cheap. It wasn't in the greatest condition but a quick lap and back to normal. Let me know.

There is a huge performance database of barber hones on another forum. Did you treat it with anything after lapping to improve surface cohesion?

I checked it and not on there, trust me if there was a useful thread on this hone I would have seen it. Yes it's been lapped to 600g and treated. That photo was taken before I conditioned it.

If you have anything getting tuggy, give it 6-8 laps on lather and see what's doing after a nice stropping. I think a lot of how these things behave today is down to how well the binder has aged.

So how did you "condition" it?

I use mineral oil until it stops soaking in, I know Modine uses a synthetic grease and others use Vaseline. A friend of mine said he used mineral oil so I thought what the heck.

Last one I did, I used petroleum jelly and just left it in the Ziploc for a week. They are fun, they can be way better than they have any right to, or utterly hateful with no real explanation besides different brands
