Viking-hone

This is my new “Viking hone” (Eidsborg hone). Got this from a work-colleague who grew up on a neighboring farm to the quarry. This hone has been in his family for generations. Eidsborg hones were produced in the parish Eidsborg Tokke municipality in Telemark from Viking times to the mid 1900s. They have been found many places in northern Europe, from Iceland and England to Poland (Findings from Poland dating to the 800s). The rock consists of fine grained quartz schist with touches of feldspar and mica. My “new” hone seems relatively hard, I think it will take me some time to lap it. Looking forward to give it a try on a razor, hopefully it will fit in somewhere in my progression.
