I thought the HHT scale went from 1 through 5...

One of these days I need to look up what the heck the HHT scale is. I always assumed it could either pop a hanging hair, or it couldn't.
Hehe, I personally call it the HTT "Hangup your time test" because I feel it is a waste of time.
Some folks swear by it though.
Woops, dunno how I doube posted that.
No doubt about the shave test being the final word. However, during the honing process I use the TNT to check the progress of the bevel, the TPT to see how the refinement is coming, and I cut hanging hairs as I'm finishing. I also frequently refer to my 60x loupe. I never used the HHT as a parlor trick. In fact I hone in a room by myself. No one has ever seen me do it. I use it to gather data. Once it cuts hanging hairs with no fuss it's time to move to the strop. YMMV
